The writer of Ecclesiastes provides us with some helpful counsel on this subject. Solomon begins this familiar passage with the words: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” The Hebrew word for time has the sense of being scheduled or of the idea of a special appointment, so that all the dimensions of life that follow have their own appointed time.
