Jesus told his disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came on them and they would be His “witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
For FPC that means the church is the instrument of God’s mission in the world. Instead of viewing our lives as existing in a Christian culture, we encourage one another, as “sent people,” to view ourselves as living in a worldly culture with the intent of spreading the Good News of the Gospel.
To the Church at Smyrna from Revelation 2:8-11. The church at Smyrna was a small church in a large, affluent city. Though it was small and financially poor, the Lord Jesus Christ himself knew of it, its spiritual richness, and the great tribulation it endured. Just as He knows the persecution of the church today. Be encouraged to finish the race of faithful endurance as Pastor Mike preaches on how this passage from the book of Revelation applies to Christians in the current culture. You can find more series on the YouTube Channel FPC Newport Pastor Mike Herring.
We love the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the authority of Scripture and the power of prayer. We seek to glorify God, serving Him with hearts of love and hands of fellowship, proclaiming the Good News to all. Read and understand more about our beliefs here.
