Sunday Service

Sunday Service

Sunday worship service begins at 10:30 am and is immediately followed by a time of fellowship in Fellowship Hall up a few steps at the front of the sanctuary.

We love visitors and new members! You’ll meet friendly people as you walk into our beautiful 19th century sanctuary constructed by some of the same craftsmen who built the famous mansions on Bellevue Avenue.

More importantly, you’ll see that Jesus is the true foundation of this congregation that loves and worships God. Come join us in discovering Christ’s love for us as we all grow in our relationship with Him.

Our worship service celebrates the glory of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit through teachings based on scripture, hymns, prayers and music. Once a month we receive communion together.

If you’ve never been to a Presbyterian church before, that’s OK! You’ll discover how our worship resonates across centuries, cultures and churches as we all seek His loving purpose for our modern lives.

On March 23rd, 2025, Sean preached from Acts 26.

Here, Paul’s conversion story is given for the third time. In this testimony, Paul highlights the three things Christianity is all about: Resurrection, Receiving Forgiveness, and Repenting from Sins.

A couple things on the sermon from Pastor Sean:

I mentioned a definition of ‘forgiveness’ provided by modern psychologists and someone asked me for that source – you can find it here on the website of the American Psychological Association: https://www.apa.org/topics/forgiveness. Additionally, I meant to offer this quote from Greg Ogden’s book, Transforming Discipleship on the topic of repentance: “Repentance literally means ‘rethink your thinking!’ … To believe the good news is active. We need to live the good news …”

Parking

Parking is available on the streets around the church. Handicapped spaces are available on Everett and Calvert Streets and do not require a formal handicap license.

Directions

4 Everett Street, Newport, RI. We are very easy to find. The church faces Broadway Street, a main artery through downtown Newport, and is at the intersection of Everett and Broadway. There’s a Civil War memorial statue of a Union soldier in front of the church, and Equality Park is across the street.

What About Kids?

We have a staffed nursery!  All caretakers adhere to regulations to make sure your little ones are cared for.  Children are always welcome to attend worship service with the family.   Normally, about fifteen minutes into the worship service the pastor  or lay leader call the children forward for a special “Children’s Message”, after which the children either return to sit with their families or leave the sanctuary to go to the nursery.   Find Out More Here.
